A Story About Me

Welcome to My Blog, Life, Home, and Family!

Hi, I’m Kelly. I am a self-made boss. I have climbed a few ladders to get to the top in my field. My company’s name: HOME. I have stepped on a lot of “little people” to get to where I am today! Totally joking. Those “little people” are my children! I have four that I am in the middle of raising. The throes of motherhood you may say. I am the boss of my home. By that I mean, I train, discipline, disciple, teach, love and serve my family. That is my mission.

Sure, I had professional dreams at one time. I changed my major many times during college and then realized my heart just wasn’t in it. And that is ok. I wanted to be a wife and mother. THAT was my heart’s desire. However, unlike going to college to learn the profession you desire to be in, motherhood didn’t have that option. You can’t enroll in the local community college and take classes on motherhood. Why? Because motherhood is the most natural thing you could do. It’s instinctive and intuitive.

I am a homeschool momma of 4! The 2021-2022 school year was my 9th year homeschooling! If we are counting Pre-K! With next year being my 10th, I’m pretty sure a trip somewhere by myself is in order! Right? Maybe a party of sorts where I’m being honored and celebrated. I need something! This is an accomplishment.

Some of the things I love: Baking, reading, homeschooling, raising arrows, writing, speaking, and teaching. These are a few of my favorite things. (Julie Andrews voice). Most days, you will find me tucked away in my kitchen conjuring up my latest recipe idea. Baking is therapeutic to me. It’s my go-to when I have company, the need to be home, cold winter days, rainy slow days. I bake. It’s what I do!

On top of baking and mothering, I love to write and speak. Having been asked to speak at a few women’s conference, I find that I absolutely love pouring the love of Jesus into every heart there to receive. I love seeing God’s daughters set free from hurt, past pain, trauma, and rejection to rise as warriors and brides of Jesus.

I’ve been married since 2004 and even though marriage can be excruciatingly hard, it has been such a blessing in my life. To be entrusted to love and honor someone is not to be taken flippantly. It’s a calling to serve my husband. Every day I get to choose how I will fulfill that calling.

Looks Like Home is a place where all these things are present. I liken it to the acronym BED.

Baking Educating Discipleship

That is what home should be. Whether you homeschool or not, home is a sanctuary. A haven for our families that we as MOMS get to cultivate. Looks Like Home isn’t about what a home looks like externally or how well it’s decorated internally. It’s about what is being put into the home and poured out. The heart of your home matters. Is there peace? Is there truth?

Let's face it, one day, our homes will be empty, but the people we shared it with will be the ones left with the memories as they make their way into the world.
