What Does Home Look Like?

Looks Like Home was birthed out of a desire to share with the world my corner of it. Which just happens to be in my home. I am a homeschooling momma that loves Jesus and tries to raise God-fearing, well-rounded children. In our home, dad is honored and respected, kids are valued and appreciated, and mom keeps things running.

So, what is home? Is it a spacious kitchen, lots of closet space, shaded backyard, nice neighborhood? Beyond those external things, a home can be more that than. More than location and the brick and mortar used to make it, home is where your heart is. In the book of Luke, chapter twelve verse thirty-four, it reads:

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Is your “home” considered a treasured place? Whether that is by you or your family. Is it life giving? Do your love ones thrive at home?

Or is home the place a bunch of people hang out; the breeding ground for chaos, strife and stress?

Our home is what we make it. It’s exhausting at times, but with intentionality it's also rewarding and thriving. As moms who stay home, one of our key roles is to shift the atmosphere. We have been given a God ordained gift to adjust our home’s “thermostat”. It’s through the power of the Holy Spirit. It’s Him at work in us to discern what our home needs.

If home is more than brick and mortar, we must treat it as such. The heart of our home is more valuable that what is materially in our home. Don’t get me wrong, I love decorating like the next gal. I love style and home fashion. But it doesn’t compare to what your home is producing. what we put into it will far out weigh how we decorate or the size of our home.

So, lets ask ourselves: what does my home look like? What is my home producing?
